True Happiness
Happiness and knowledge
Wisdom and knowledge appears as a two-edged sword. One side provides knowledge and the other appears as grief. A verse from the book of Ecclesiastes says, ”for with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge the more grief.” Ecclesiastes 1:18. “Admittedly, much of the book of Ecclesiastes presents a cynical look at reality. The author here is speaking of a contrast to being blissfully ignorant of the harsher elements of existence and knowledge of the way things are. One is reminded of the devastation brought on by the newfound “knowledge of good and evil” possessed by Adam and Eve after their rebellion in the garden. They were genuinely wiser in a certain way (Gen 3:7), but sorrow and grief were part of the package. … The Bible generally commends the attainment of wisdom (Prov 4:7). When it is set against foolishness, then certainly wisdom is to be preferred. … One could say that … “ignorance is bliss. But it is even better to go beyond the grief of knowledge to the joy of the true knowledge of God and biblical reality.” Ecclesiastes 1:18 Meaning of for with Much Wisdom Comes Much Sorrow – ConnectUS (connectusfund.org) by Natalie Regoli
“Learning contributes to happiness for people and communities, and it also has positive effects for countries. Researchers at Umea University studied 15,000 people across 25 countries every two years since 2002 and finds when countries support greater educational attainment, their citizens are happier and healthier.” Learning Is A Sure Path To Happiness: Science Proves It (forbes.com)
Knowledge and wisdom is preferred. Francis Bacon said, ”Knowledge is power.” Only true happiness can shine through knowledge. Abraham Lincoln said, “We are as happy as we decide to be.” Marcus Arelius proclaimed, “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” According to Dennis Prager (Prager University),”Happiness is not a feeling but a learned behavior.” We have to work on it each day. I believe it will be difficult, but the rewards are great.
Happiness will not thrive without hard work, responsibility, determination, action, laughter, gratitude, contentment, and optimism. One way to bring happiness is through gratitude. Have you ever heard of the man who complain about not have new shoes until he saw a man without any feet. Sometimes it is all relative. Create a gratitude journey. Write down ten things that make you thankful (go to menu to see more about gratitude).
Optimism is often the answer towards happiness. I heard it once said that a pessimist complains about a problem, but the optimist gets things done about the problem. Also, we can look at a glass of water half full or half empty. It is both! But it is our attitude of calling the glass half full. It is that optimism that can strengthen our resolve and repeal us forward. The pessimist only sees the negative half empty glass of water and feels defeated. Which are you?
In Dennis Prager’s book: Happiness Is A Serious Problem, Prager speaks about a “moral obligation to others to be happy. Why should others suffer for your unhappiness? Fake happiness if necessary.” Smile more even if it is hard to so. “Give a happy face toward others even when you feel down or sad. When asked how you feel always say cheerfully. Great or terrific!” (Dennis Prager, Happiness Is A Serious Problem) and Read the Book on Happier People Mike Rowe has what he calls a “Sweat Pledge,” with positive thoughts on being successful and happy. Some of them are: “be grateful to be alive, stop whining and complaining, show passion and enthusiasm at work, and many more.” “Sweat pledge,” by Mike Rowe.

Encouragement And Hope From God
The nations are a drop in the bucket and are counted as a dust in the balance. All the nations before him are nothing. They are counted as less than and vanity. He bringeth the princes to nothing. He maketh the judges pf the earth as a vanity. Hath thou not known? Hast thou not heard. The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? He giveth power to the faint. And them that have no strength he increases might. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run, and not be weary. They shall walk, and not faint.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and staff they comfort me. Thou prepareth a table before me in the presence of mine enemies ; thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Suely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
